Recipe for the “Kristini”

November 14, 2010

Last night we had a 40th birthday party for our friend, Kristi. In honor of the occasion I invented the “Kristini”: a cocktail that is “a little bit tart and a little bit sweet”, just like Kristi. :).

This is a lot of citrus, with lemon, grapefruit and lime flavors. Although it’s tempting to fill up the martini glass when serving this, it’ll be more enjoyable if you serve smaller portions cold.

It was a huge hit and a few people were asking for the recipe so here it is:

The Kristini

3/4 oz Absolut Citron (3 oz)
1/2 oz Limoncello (2 oz)
1 oz grapefruit juice – fresh-squeezed or not-from-concentrate (4 oz)
1/4 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice (1 oz)
1/4 teaspoon white sugar (1 teaspoon)

Note: measurements in brackets () are for mixing four drinks at a time. It’s easier to make this drink in batches of 4.

Mix liquid ingredients together and stir in sugar. Fill cocktail shaker with fresh ice, then pour (2-1/2 oz of the drink mix) into the shaker. Shake well, serve in a martini glass garnished with a grapefruit curl.
